Profitability of wood-fired CHP Plants

Working on behalf of the Swiss Association for Environmental Technology, we examined the profitability of wood-fired combined-heat-and-power plants to enable the Swiss government to optimally promote their use in Switzerland. Based on data provided by eight wood-fired CHP plants, we assessed the profitability of the various plant types and sizes. We then used our findings to assess the need for governmental assistance. In addition, we examined the impact of the most important economic factors (e.g. the price of wood).
